Untitled #423

Story Driven television. Much better than Character Driven television. Though they each have their qualities. But as a producer and writer, you would be smarter to have a story driven show. If it is character driven, the actors have you by the short and curlies. For example, a show like Frasier. Kelsey Grammer can demand tons of money and get it, which is why he was getting more then a million per show. Because if there was no Kelsey Grammer, there was no Frasier. But shows like Law & Order, which have great stories and actually aren't character driven, are in a good spot. The actors don't dictate there pay, taking more money out of the pockets of the writers and producers. Law & Order goes through actors like crazy and it never affects how many people watch it. It has been consistently in the top ten television shows for over ten years. So kids, if you want to write for television, be smart, know how to write a good story. Don't let a character be the main focus. There isn't near as much money in that.
