Summer Slaughter House Tour

Hello everyone. This is the first time in a while I am not blogging in the morning. Kind of weird. I actually wasn't going to do it at all. Unfamiliar being completely awake and doing this. I slept in a little bit too much to have time too. I had a fucking great weekend. Absolutely jam packed with metal. On Sunday after work I headed down to Toronto. I arrived at Jimmy's Just as Mark, Tom, Kris, and Keith had arrived. They were just pulling beers out of their trunk. I brought my stereo down because it was a metal party and I wanted half decent speakers. I also of course brought music, as did a couple of the guys. We sat around outside of Jimmy's place. He has an outlet out front which is perfect. After we had a beer or two, we went to The Red Room. I got my usual. the guys got nachos or some shit. Tom and I ordered a pitcher of beer. After that, we headed back to Jimmy's to get more drunk. Tom passed out for a bit because he is a little bitch. We were smoking Djarums. Mark bought some because the place is right near the Red Room where you can get them.

When we got back to Jimmy's we dropped acid. Me, Mark, and Kris. I was also drinking tall cans of Guinness. Fuck I love Guinness. Jon and Lauren showed up around nine or so. There were also a bunch of other people there. Jen and Scotty and Hoffman. Probably a bunch of others I don't remember. I was pretty drun and high. We also were smoking hash etc. Oh yes and of course Kayla, and Dave where there. Sometime during the night someone found a couch on the side of the road and brought it to Jimmy's. Haha. It was pretty great to have a couch to sit on out front. it was a hell of a lot of fun. There was a positive energy to the party. A lot of cigarettes were being smoked. I usually find that the case at parties when people are feeling social and engaging. Because smoking is a very social thing. Fuck you should have seen all the cigarette butts on the ground the next day. It went late too. I think I was up until five or six at the party. A lot of people stayed pretty late. Lauren and I got Jimmy's bed thank God. I didn't want to sleep on a floor. though I didn't really sleep due to the acid.

Just kind of half dozed in and out all weekend. When we woke up in the morning, we met Dave, Barb, Kayla, and Jimmy at The Red Room and had breakfast there. Oh and also Jon came if I remember correctly. After that we went back to Jimmy's to meet up with Tom and Keith who had left before I got out of bed. We sat at Jimmy's and smoked a few bowls then after that headed for sunrise records to see if Keith could pick up a ticket for the show. Half way there Mark realized he had left his ticket in his car. So Keith and Kris kept on going to Sunrise Records and I walked back with Mark to get his ticket. We rushed it because we wanted to get in line early. We walked back after getting the ticket and Keith hadn't been able to get a ticket. But someone had told him you could get them at the door. I wish I had known earlier or Lauren definately could have come and it wouldn't have been a hassle for her at all to get a ticket. But before I knew that I had no idea how she would be able to score one. So we got on the Queen Street car and headed up to The Opera House.

We got there early by about an hour and got a fucking sweet place in line. We got in there before any of the bands had started. Though I wouldn't have minded missing the first band. they fucking sucked. But out of the 8 bands, 6 of them were awesome. Which is good for me due to my very picky taste in music. Such a fucking good show. And us as a group commandeered a great spot for the night. It was right in front of a rail that was elevated above the big floor in fron of the stage. So we could see over everyone and no one could stand in front of us. It was amazing. I got a Beneath the Massacre hoody. And a Cattle Decapitation, and The Faceless t-shirt. All of those bands were fucking amazing. Cattle Decapitation had one of the most intense devastating vocals I had ever heard. He is the Mike Patton of metal. Mike Patton is the singer of Mr. Bungle, and Fantomas for all you kids out there who wouldn't know. He often sounded like if Lizards were torturing each other. he also had the ability to make his voice sound like a dying pig or a cow with its throat slashed. Very fucking incredible.

I took acid again at the show which made it all the more intense. Necrophagist where fucking mind blowing. Their new drummer did a ten minute solo which was one of the most interesting, talented displays of drumming I had ever seen. This was the best show I have gone too in my life. It was just jam packed full of talent. 8 hours of extreme death metal. Not much could make me happier. If I get married it won't be as happy as this day. After the show was done we went back to Jimmy's and hung out in front of his house on the couch. Had a beer. Smoked hash and weed. Just relaxed because all of us were exhausted from being on our feet so long. We of course turned on more metal. Listened To the albums "Cortical Tectonics" and "Prometheus: The Discipline of Fire and Demise" Both incredible abums. Dave Power showed up a little bit later as well and hung out with us. We dissapated at about three or so in the morning. We were all exhausted. I hadn't really slept all weekend at all. i went back to Dave's to sleep on his comfy couch and to visit with Seb for a bit.

It was very good to see that man. I got to bed around 4 or 5 in the morning. I wanted some sleep because I had to work the next day and I had to travel and shit. Boy was I exhausted being on my feet at work yesterday and today. They still haven't recovered from the weekend. I had a really amazing time though. It was good to see those boys from Owen Sound. they are kids who can appreciate metal with me. Those kind of people are few and far between. I realized how much more than most people we enjoy music. I would mentally note how often we tuned into music that was playing and talk about the incredible musicianship and get right into it. Most people I find have music moreso as a lulling backround thing. But these kids along with me are really into it and just the music itself made the party amazing for us. I want to convert the world into liking what I like. Then I won't have to listen to shit anymore. Haha. Maybe someday. Maybe I just need to find the metal scene kids in Toronto. But generally I hate metal heads. There are exceptions of course.

But even the whole sub culture at the show annoy me generally. Those of you who missed out on the weekend, i feel sad for you. See now I can die a happy man having seen the rediculous talent I saw in one day. It was a very extreme evening. And very brutal. Well I think I am going to wrap this up. I am sure I missed a whole bunch of shit in this post. But I lose my flow if I try to remember all the little details. I hope you all had a lovely Canada Day weekend. I sure as fuck did. Cheers!
